Elderwoman Profile

[realname] - Guest Profile Photo

Retired many years ago from my career as a psychotherapist and health educator, I am in a new incarnation as a free-lance writer on many subjects, from green spirituality and conscious aging to environmental politics, organic growing and alternative technology.
I am the author of 'Transformation through Menopause' (Bergin & Garvey,1991), the first self-help guide to the psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of menopause, 'ELDERWOMAN: reap the wisdom, feel the power, embrace the joy' (Findhorn Press, 2002), a comprehensive guide to the crowning/croning phase of women's lives, 'The Lilypad List: Seven steps to the simple life' (Findhorn Press, 2004) a primer for sustainable living, and a couple of works of fiction. I am also the Editor of an anthology on green spirituality, 'GreenSpirit: Path to a New Consciousness'. (O Books, 2010). I edit ‘The Elderwoman Newsletter’, co-edit 'GreenSpirit Journal' co-ordinate the online social network ‘Elderwomanspace’ (plus three other social networks) and I am a columnist for ‘Crone’ magazine. Grandmother of three, step-grandmother of three more, I live in an English village with my partner and soulmate Sky and help him run the Wholesome Food Association (a low-cost, grassroots alternative to organic certification). We grow some of our own food (organically) and live as simply and greenly as we can.

I am making the world a better place by:

Green activism, serving on the Council of GreenSpirit, keeping my eco-footprint as low as possible and inspiring others to do the same through my writing.
