Spa retreats: experience the world, avoiding the trepidation

I was reaching the end of my tether and then I came across a website offering spa retreat packages. The routine of 60-hour weeks at work in the city, pressure from my boss to perform and alot of family stress had finally taken its toll. I had enough – I needed a break and time to myself.

Spending a week or two on an overcrowded beach was just not going to cut it. Countless holidays to the Spain, the Canaries and Greek islands had taught me that I needed something more luxurious in order to fully de-stress me.

I really needed somewhere completely isolated, stress free and scenic to make sure I experienced total relaxation, without their being any chance of being bothered or hassled. I didn’t want to endure loud music, I didn’t want to suffer children playing in the pool and also I will almost defiantly be turning my mobile phone OFF.

Eyes on the horizon
My friends that had been adventuring to the far corners of the earth returning home and spoke of deserted, golden beaches and pure blue waters, but then when I  thought of going somewhere far away and exotic  it seemed difficult and potentially dangerous for a vulnerable female travelling alone.
Also, I knew that, while they had had a great time, I couldn’t have gone without my straighteners and 12-hour moisture cream for a day, let alone a whole holiday for 2-3 weeks. I have nothing to be ashamed of – back packing just isn’t my thing.

A spa retreat was the perfect solution I could find. This way, I got to experience a selection of the most beautiful places on earth, without having to organise and negotiate my way around a strange country in an unknown language. In short, I was able to see all of the things my friends had seen, experience all that they had enjoyed, but without the overcrowded hostels, tiresome backpacking and unbearable bathroom arrangements.

Taking a breath
From the moment I made the decision to book a spa retreat package holiday, the only difficulty I was deciding which destination to select from the dozens of heavenly locations on offer. I eventually picked a beautiful retreat perched on Pine-Clad Hills in the towering heights of Bhutan – somewhere I had always wanted to experience, but never imagined I ever would, or be available to.

From here on end, it was simple. The online company took care of everything. From flights and transfers to yoga on the deck and relaxing massages, I was 100% catered for, ensuring that I didn’t have to lift a finger for anything throughout the duration of my retreat.
The best thing about my trip was that I was able to really take some time for myself – something that was really unavailable back home. I would recommend booking a spa retreat online to anyone: it was so simple, and it gave me the well-deserved holiday I had been promising myself for years on end.
