Becoming a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher
In order to lead a Laughter Yoga club or teach Laughter Yoga in other settings, facilitators must be trained as a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher or a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader. What is the difference? Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders are certified to lead Laughter Yoga sessions, while Laughter Yoga Teachers are also authorized to certify others as leaders.
Laughter Yoga Leader Training
Certified Leader Training is best for those who wish to lead laughter sessions for schools, corporations, and other groups. In a two-day training session, you will learn the history and philosophy of Laughter Yoga, and learn the basics of leading Laughter Yoga exercises and meditations.
Laughter Yoga Teacher Training
Certified Teacher Training is a five-day intensive course that provides more in-depth knowledge about leading Laughter Yoga sessions and its various applications, as well as training in useful skills such as promotion and marketing. After completion, you will be authorized to start Laughter Clubs and train others as Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders.
Laughter Yoga Schools
Certified Laughter Yoga Teachers hold training events throughout the world, and Dr. Kataria continues to travel across the globe, conducting Teacher Training events in locations such as India, Europe, the United States, and South America.
Dr. Kataria also periodically conducts advanced training sessions and seminars based on his travels and worldwide experience.

Starting a Laughter Club
Before starting your own Laughter Yoga club, a number of factors must be taken into consideration. As the leader, your regular commitment is crucial to the success of the club until you develop a core group of members who can share some of the responsibility. According to Laughter Yoga International, this may take a year or more, so be patient if your Laughter Yoga group isn't growing as quickly as you would like.
Meetings times and frequency: In determining meeting times and frequency, ask your interested members what they would prefer. Meeting more often will provide the most benefits for yourself and your participants, but be careful not to overextend yourself, especially in the early days of growing your club. Weekends and evenings are typically the most practical meeting times for participants.
Venue: Give some careful consideration to your Laughter Yoga venue. Parks and other outdoor spaces are great when the weather permits, but you will need an appropriate indoor space for at least part of the year and in case of inclement weather. Finding a free or cheap location can often be a challenge, and even in a park you may need a permit to conduct a group session.
Inquire about free meeting spaces at local churches, community centers, and libraries. Keep in mind that Laughter Club meetings can often become noisy. If you are unable to find a free venue, you may defray the cost by asking for a small donation, but remember that Laughter Clubs should be provided as a free service.
Laughter Yoga's numerous benefits and applications make this "well-being workout" a truly worthwhile pursuit in today's climate, where individuals are searching for ways to defray healthcare costs. By teaching Laughter Yoga, you can learn to help others reduce stress, find relief from chronic health problems, and live happier lives!
